Another whirlwind month - I was in Portland for my homeboy
Garhan's
Wedding (now he's Mister Garhan!), then in Vancouver for a getaway with Alice, then to the Gorge for the Sasquatch Festival to have Bjork beam her giant laser at me.
One of the highlights from my recent travels - in Aloha, OR, there is a
giant bunny-man appropriately named Harvey who watches over the town with his enormous steely eyes. I also had the pleasure of discovering the show
Mad Money, where an insane individual gives advice about the stock market while wearing different outfits, screaming, playing sound effects and launching graphical assaults on the screen like charging bulls and bloodthirsty bears. That's entertainment!
What happened in Vancouver stays in Vancouver...
Sasquatch was excellent... Arcade Fire and Bjork were phenomenal. Bjork really blew me away, she's such a little dainty spritey thing singing around all this crazy industrialness. And man, does she pack a big laser. I'm surprised it didn't slice right through the trees at the back of the lawn! I also heard a bit of Blow and Electrolane, both are bands I must to check out further.
Circus news - Circus Contraption is having
two fundraising galas for each side of your human personality: White Trash on Friday and White Tie on Saturday! I'm going to the White Tie night, should be a lot of fun. Also, last month's performance went really well, and it was a lot of fun! I need to find more opportunities to use my new breakaway jeans.
Pirate news - go see the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie, it's quite good and shines where the second movie started to rust a bit. I'm not much for movie romance but the romantic scene involving Barbossa during the final battle is probably one of my favorite scenes of all time. And I've never seen a better shot of Johnny Depp's nose.
After you've seen the movie come buy six of my latest pirate shirts -
Parrots of the Caribbean (design by Alice)!
I picked up
Tom Hagerman (violin/accordion of Devotchka)'s solo CD from CDBaby.com - it's really good! If you've got a few bucks I recommend it, CDBaby.com is a great web site anyway.
Now if you'll excuse me, I must get back to my summer...

Glad to see that our wedding was higher up on the blog than the giant bunny. (Harvey Rocks)
