Mike in the 24½ Century!
Tunes Alkaline Trio - Maybe I'll Catch Fire

Earlier today I was watching some of an NCAA game - Michigan State verses the United Kingdom. These couple of guys did a really great steal/layup/dunkjamalammy, it was cool, and the announcer said 'Great hustle!' Is 'Great hustle' really something people say in college sports? When I was in high school I always heard 'Good job! Way to go! Good hustle!' and was pretty sure they were all hollow lies.

So, this weekend I ended the circle of pain that is Cingular Wireless and jumped into the circle of fire that is Verizon Wireless. I'm paying the same each month, but I got a brand new phone, this fine Motorola V710. Can I tell you what a difference this is? My last phone, a Siemens A56, was so horribly dated, even when I bought it in 2003. I feel like this new phone has brought me into the future. I'm feeling very Japanese, although I know the real Japanese would scoff at me, because my phone has no night vision or laser gun (although it does have a flash for taking pictures).

I'm also stoked about putting things on this phone - my last phone was unable to download ringtones and such because I didn't subscribe to their mobile web service... ugh. This phone has a teeny little TransFlash memory slot in the back, so I can buy a card and put whatever I want on there - my own MIDI ringtones (there's a very special place in my heart for MIDIs), images, etc. I'm stoked. In theory I could transfer data to it via bluetooth, but none of my computers have bluetooth, and apparently Verizon cripples that portion of the phone anyway (blah). I think my ringtones will be a converted Commodore SID tunes.

This phone plays Galaga. Enough about the phone now.

This has been a wild week - today is the first day I've been home for anything other than sleeping for 1+ hours. The Unemployables had a great show at the Catwalk, even if it wasn't very crowded. In a drunken haze I thought it would be a great idea to swap my driver's license w/ my friend Sara's without telling her - har har har. Well, I did that and forgot about it until the next morning... did I mention that the next morning she had to catch a plane to Spokane? I remembered this halfway through my morning shower, called her, and was able to drop it off at her place prior to her going to the airport! That was very close. Score +10 asshat points for me.

The PirQlaters were awesome last night at Graceland. It's always a kick to see somebody I know up on stage. Good energy, good music. I even skanked a little. 'Bob Seger Must Die' was a particular favorite. Then I woke up today at 2:30.

I'm up to 69 pirate jokes... if I get some time tonight I'll add the doohickey so all you pirate joke fans out there can submit your own.

On Friday I saw The City of Lost Children. Two words: a mazing. The look of the film was so incredible, the characters were great... I love the actors that Jean-Pierre Jeunet chooses! Their faces are so perfect. Certain visuals from that movie are still sticking with me, they were like paintings. I need to catch more midnight shows at the Egyptian.

And then you said:

I could have used Jason's lung being coughed up to remain awake at CLC (am I in?)-- sadly, dark places at midnight tell my body that it's time to sleep, so the middle hour of the movie was nothing but drool and snores for Mike.
Garhan, 3-30-2005 with $7.31
Lol, all I did was try to add a comment to your error page - which didn't work! I demand that feature be fixed (yes, it's a feature whether you like it or not!) ... that way we can rant when your website gets molested again!

Random suggested tune --> Equilibrium's "Unter der Eiche"

I'm glad you saw the City of Lost Children! Jason and I were not able to see it due to his sickness (for which he blames you), although that would hardly be excuse enough to miss CLC (cool kids abbreviate) though he was coughing up a lung, and that could have been distracting. anyway.

Hmm, looks like my site was molested earlier today. Garhan was a suspect but now I think he's clean. I blame Jason's h@X0r friends.
